To us, travel is so much more than just consumption. Just around the corner, there’s a secret spot that locals frequent waiting to be discovered. In the next town over, a local delicacy is waiting to be devoured. 

To us, travel is about the authenticity of the experience: stepping into the shoes of the locals for just a few days, trying on how life in that country or city or small town would feel if you chose to inhabit it. 

One of our most influential travel experiences was in Finale Ligure, a small adventure-laden hamlet nestled into the mountains of the verdant and sun-soaked Italian Riviera. We embarked on a mountain bike ride with a local guide and we stopped for lunch quite literally in the middle of a forest in the outskirts of the town center at a couple’s private home, where they whipped us up an elaborate (not to mention delicious) meal. It felt personal, convivial, and just about the opposite of what you might experience with mainstream tourism. In short, we were struck by the authenticity of the experience. For those few hours, we imagined what life would be like as a resident of the beautiful Finale Ligure: rolling bike rides through the mountains to the turquoise waters of the beaches below, medieval church bells ringing at mid-day, and, of course, wine soaked pasta lunches in a friendly couple’s home in the middle of a forest. 

These are the types of experiences we seek to bring you with each and every adventure that we curate. 

We promise we’ll never bring you to a “tourist” spot. We’ll always seek out authenticity; whether it’s beautiful, quiet back roads in the hills of Connecticut, the best views in northern Vermont or wine tasting in a castle in Umbria.
